Life can sometimes cast shadows over our hearts, leading to periods that feel confusing or overwhelming. In such times, symptoms like anxiety or depression may appear, making it seem as though there is no clear path forward. These mental health challenges can arise from a variety of life events—some originating early in life, even before we are able to speak, while others occur as we move through different stages. The struggle is real, but there are tools and resources available to help rediscover joy—perhaps for the first time.
Donna utilizes a variety of tools and resources to tailor each session to the client’s needs and preferences. For trauma work, she is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based therapy effective for both complex and single-event traumas.
She also incorporates Internal Family Systems Therapy, which explores various parts or sub-personalities within oneself—helping clients understand inner critics or conflicting behaviours. For example, clients may experience internal conflict between desires and actions, such as committing to healthy eating but falling into patterns of self-sabotage.
In addition, Donna uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to challenge thought patterns, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) to address emotional life, and Narrative Therapy (NT) to help reshape the stories we tell ourselves. Clients have control over the direction of their sessions; Donna explains each approach fully, ensuring clients choose what feels right for them and remain in charge of their therapeutic journey.
Limiting beliefs are often at the heart of the patterns that keep us feeling stuck—whether it’s people-pleasing, chronic over-thinking, catastrophizing, or living in the “what ifs.” These beliefs whisper stories of not being good enough, not being likable, or not being lovable, erecting invisible barriers to growth and contentment. Donna is deeply familiar with this terrain, having not only guided countless individuals through these obstacles, but also having journeyed through her own “not good enough” belief.
Donna’s approach to belief work is both practical and compassionate, rooted in lived experience and clinical expertise. She understands that these entrenched beliefs are not just thoughts—they’re emotional truths shaped by past experiences, often reinforced over years. Her belief-busting system is designed to gently unravel these stories, helping clients discover what they truly prefer to believe about themselves.
Donna’s process begins by gently exploring the roots of limiting beliefs—uncovering how they first took hold and tracing the threads that have woven them into your everyday experience. Through attentive listening, she helps you identify the moments, relationships, and patterns that have contributed to these beliefs, bringing clarity and understanding to what once felt nebulous or overwhelming.
From there, Donna shifts the focus toward transformation. She collaborates with you to consciously construct a new belief system—one that aligns with your values, aspirations, and authentic sense of self. This isn’t just about positive thinking; it’s a thoughtful recalibration using practical, step-by-step tools. Donna’s interventions are intentionally simple, designed to remove the paralyzing complexity that often accompanies deeply ingrained beliefs.
Clients are introduced to exercises and strategies tailored to their unique journey, each meant to guide them beyond old mental barriers. Donna’s compassionate support creates a safe space for experimentation, reflection, and growth.
